Delaware County Gets Hollywood Spotlight at Oscars with "Silver Linings Playbook"; Philly Parties

Delaware County meets Hollywood tonight at the 85th Annual Academy Awards. "Silver Linings Playbook" was filmed extensively in Upper Darby, Ridley Park, Lansdowne, and Ridley Township (and of course throughout Philadelphia). The Llanerch Diner, Archbishop Prendergast, Lansdowne Theater, Norristown State Hospital, Jewelers Row and Lincoln Financial Field were some of most recognizable landmarks featured during the October 2011 filming of the breakout film of last year.

Oscar parties will be happening all over the county in anticipation of big wins for the locally shot film. The Llanerch Diner, which was the set of a big scene between the main characters portrayed by Rydal native Bradley Cooper and Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, is expecting a packed house for champagne and hor d’oeurves. The Llanerch Diner is at Township Line Road and West Chester Pike. Around the corner at Cawley’s Irish Pub on West Chester Pike in Upper Darby, a red carpet party is set to start at 6pm. A $15 Philadelphia buffet of cheesesteaks, roast pork and wings awaits. Just make your reservation and wear your Eagles finest.

The David O. Russell directed movie has garnered nominations in all 7 major categories and all 4 acting categories for tonight's Oscars, something that hasn't happened in 30 years. Last night at the Independent Spirit Awards, the film won awards including Best Film, Best Actress, and Best Director. Tonight, expect it to take home at least a handful of awards. “Silver Linings Playbook” is an underdog in the Best Picture category with “Argo” and “Lincoln” favorites, but many people here in Philadelphia will be rooting for the underdog. We like a scrapper and fighter around here.

UPDATE: Jennifer Lawrence wins for Best Actress, the only award of the night for "Silver Linings Playbook".

UPDATE: Philadelphia Eagles' owners Jeffrey Lurie and Christina Weiss Lurie executive produced Inocente, which won for Best Documentary Short
