Train Derails in Port Richmond, Sting Operation, Damages Awarded to Fan at Linc

A freight train derailed this morning in Northeast Philadelphia on Aramingo Avenue between Castor and Butler Street in Port Richmond. Two derailed cars stopped in the middle of Aramingo causing commuter traffic problems while crews got the cars back on track. No one was injured.

According to a report in, Federal prosecutors never deemed a sting operation that targeted public corruption in Philadelphia as too weak to prosecute. DA Seth Williams says the feds never reached a judgment one way or another before Attorney General Kathleen Kane ordered the investigation be shut down.

A jury has awarded $75,000 in damages to a man arrested at Lincoln Financial Field before the Eagles home opener in 2011. Harry Mims, a 32 year old real estate office manager was arrested and jailed for 2 days after an altercation at the game. The lawsuit sought damages for false arrest, malicious prosecution and assault.

Tonight the 76ers are in Toronto and the Phillies have the Milwaukee Brewers.
