The new head of the President Obama's Secret Service is Havertown native and Villanova graduate, Joe Clancy. Clancy had been a member of Obama’s security team until he retired in 2011 and moved to lead security at Comcast. President Obama wants Clancy back as interim director of the Secret Service, recently exposed as vulnerable in breaches at the White House which caused Julia Pierson to resign yesterday.

Mayor Nutter has signed a bill that makes marijuana possession punishable by a ticket. In decriminalizing pot in Philadelphia, the Mayor emphasized that this is not legalization. If you are caught with small amounts of weed, you could be fined $100 or get up to 9 hours of community service. And your pot will be confiscated. Like a parking ticket, violations will not become part of your criminal record.

Reading Terminal Market is getting national recognition as one of America’s top 10 public spaces. That’s according to the American Planning Associations’ 2014 “Great Places in America: Public Spaces” list. Philadelphia’s famous downtown food market was noted for its vibrant seating area and how accessible it is to residents and tourists. Reading Terminal Market is hailed as a “world renowned enclosed public market.”
