McNabb Suspended Indefinitely; NAACP Convention Opens; Gathering for Fired Gay Teacher

According to Sports Illustrated, Donovan McNabb has been suspended indefinitely from his job at Fox Sports. McNabb's suspension comes on the heels of him being arrested back on June 28 for driving under the influence of alcohol in Arizona. It was the second time in 18 months the former Pro Bowler was arrested for the offense. The first arrest was back in Dec. 15, 2013. He eventually served one day in jail in April of 2014 after pleading guilty.

The NAACP Convention kicked of this weekend in Philadelphia with 8,000 delegates and others from all over the country for the confab at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The convention kicked off with big news Saturday - the NAACP will no longer boycott the state of South Carolina as the state removed its Confederate flag from the state capitol. The flag had come under scrutiny in recent weeks after a gunman killed nine in a historic black church in Charleston.

Students, parents and alumni gathered last night at a prayer service and show of support for Margie Winters, the gay faculty member recently fired from Waldron-Mercy Academy. About 120 people braved the heat, humidity and gnats in General Wayne Park. Winters attended, but did not speak or grant interviews. Winters was dismissed last month after a parent complained about her same-sex marriage to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The Archdiocese has repeatedly denied it was involved in Winter's firing.
