Jefferson and Kennedy Health moved closer to consummating their proposed marriage this morning with the signing of an agreement to merge the two health systems. The organizations made the original announcement in January and still require state and regulatory approval. They plan to expand their existing partnerships in cancer care and neurosciences.

The brother of the man shot in the face and killed, early Monday, now faces charges in that crime including murder. Early Monday, Philadelphia police responded to a report of a person with a gun in the 2800 block of S. 7th Street. They found 28 year old Craig Giangrante, Jr. in a second floor rear bedroom and he’d been shot in the head. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead soon after. Today, his younger brother, 26-year-old Carmen Giangrante has been charged with third-degree murder.

Police in Barnegat, New Jersey have arrested a woman following a hit and run that left a 61-year-old woman dead Monday. An anonymous tip led police to Cassie Hansen, 27, after police say she knowingly left the scene of a crash involving a pedestrian. Marie Thorne, a 61-year-old Barnegat resident was killed when she was struck by Hansen's car earlier in the day as she crossed Ridgeway Street near Bayview Blvd. Thorne was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
