A Delaware County Catholic High School senior has been arrested and charged with possessing thousands of child pornography images and videos, mostly of local high school and middle school boys. 18-year-old Derrick Jones of Glenolden is charged with dissemination of child porn, unlawful use of a computer, harassment, stalking and other crimes. Bail was set at $50,000. Jones is a senior at Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast High School in Upper Darby. Jones is accused of posing as a teenage girl named "Haley" when communicating with his victims on various social media channels. He would send the victims racy photos and videos of "Haley" he took from the internet and ask them to send some explicit photos of themselves in return. This is otherwise known as a 'catfish' scam. Jones would then threaten/blackmail the victims that he would release their images if they didn't send more. There are over 100 individual victims. Police are working to identify and notify them all. The Archdiocese say that Jones will not be returning to school. If you have any information or feel you may have been victimized contact Upper Darby Police.

Two high school students have been arrested and charged in the attempted rape of a 14-year-old girl inside a bathroom at Frankford High School on Wednesday. An 18-year-old male was charged with Attempted Rape Simple Assault, REAP, Unlawful Restraint and related charges. A 17-year-old male was charged with Conspiracy to commit Rape, Conspiracy-Unlawful Restraint, and Conspiracy Simple Assault and related offenses. He is charged as juvenile. Both names have not been released. It happened on the third floor of the school around 9:55 a.m. The victim was walking in the hallway when the 18-year-old put his arm around the girl and tried to talk to her. She pushed him off and tried to walk away. He grabbed her again and forced her into a locked bathroom, which was unlocked by the second male who somehow had the key. The 17-year-old male stood watch outside as the older male took the girl inside, grabbed her by the throat and attempted to sexually assault her. The girl screamed and a teacher came and stopped the attack.

A Downingtown STEM Academy administrator has resigned following the fallout of an incident last month where he was caught on video screaming and cursing at two teenagers protesting outside the high school. Assistant Dean of Academics and Student Life Dr. Zach Ruff sent a letter of resignation to the Downingtown Area School District of Thursday afternoon. Ruff was initially suspended with pay and then suspended without pay last week. It happened on April 21st. Two teenage home school students were protesting abortion on the public sidewalk outside the school. Ruff admonished and berated the students while trying to get them to leave. The video clip filmed by one of the teens went viral and gained attention nationwide. Many students at the school were surprised by their beloved administrator's behavior but lent him their full support. Still members of the community were concerned about his inappropriate and unprofessional treatment of two young people, no matter the subject of their demonstration. A school board meeting on Wednesday night was full of both Ruff's supporters and detractors.

"After considering this situation in total, its divisive impact on the community, the reaction from his students, and the attention this situation has garnered nationally, it is clear to us that Dr. Ruff decided that the best thing for his students, the School District, and the community was to resign from employment effective at the close of business on Thursday, May 11, 2017," the school district said in a statement.
