3 Arrests Made In Bensalem Shooting; No Bail For Minor Charges; 1 Dead 5 Injured In Crash/Shooting

Police in Bensalem have made three arrests in connection with the murder of a Philadelphia man in Bensalem. Jonathan Vega, Charles Alexander and Ann Marie Rodriquez have all been charged with criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy as well as other related offenses in the murder of 26-year-old Tevin Hill. Hill was found with a gunshot wound to the chest on the 900 block of Bristol Pike at around 7pm on Sunday. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. The three suspects attempted to rob Hill, but he ended up shooting him while he was sitting in his vehicle. All three suspects have been arraigned and sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has stated that his office will cease asking for bail money for numerous misdemeanor and non-violent felony crimes. Krasner says that requiring people to pay bail for minor crimes unfairly targets defendants who cannot afford to pay to keep themselves from going to jail. This announcement goes along with Krasner's ongoing reforms in the city to lower the municipal jail population by diverting certain defendants to treatment programs or issuing tickets rather than jail time. You can see the full list of charges no longer requiring cash bail at the DA's websiteDA's website.

A woman is dead and five others are injured after a gunman opened fire on a driver in the Fern Rock section of Philadelphia. The incident happened near Broad Street and Grange Avenue at around 8:30 pm Wednesday night. The shooter opened fire on the van while it was traveling down Broad Street. Police say that after the driver was shot, she crossed all the lanes on Broad Street and crashed into a building on the 5800 block of Old York Road. Police arrived on the scene to find a 23-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound, who was later pronounced dead. Police also found five other victims in the car, including two women in the 20's as well as two girls and one boy all ranging from ages 2-6 years old. The other victims did not have any gunshot wounds but suffered other injuries from the crash. A search continues for the suspect wanted for the shooting.
