Temple University officials issued a warning to students, faculty, and staff on Thursday after several students on campus have tested positive for mumps. Student Health Services says that four students have the highly infectious disease. The mumps symptoms are similar to the flu and can include tender swollen glands below the ear and along the jawline. Symptoms appear 16-18 days after exposure. "People with mumps are considered infectious from two days before swelling begins through five days after the start of swelling," the university said. It spreads through the air, such and coughing and sneezing. Avoid sharing food, drinks, utensils. Stay home if sick. Make sure your vaccines are up to date. Temple's spring break starts Friday, March 1, after classes.

A woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a vehicle being pursued by police as she sat on the steps of a North Philadelphia church on Thursday night, 2/28. It happened around 9 p.m. at Broad and Allegheny outside the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church. A robbery had occurred earlier on the 1900 block of North 7th Street. Philadelphia police were chasing a car with four robbery suspects inside when that car struck another vehicle. The woman sitting on the steps was hit by one of those vehicles after the crash. She suffered leg injuries and was taken to the hospital. Police were able to apprehended three of the suspects. They are searching for the fourth suspect. Police also recovered a gun and cash.

Starting today, March 1st, Pennsylvania is issuing Real ID compliant driver's licenses. Real IDs are not required to drive, but starting in October 2020 you must have one to board a commercial flight or enter certain federal facilities. You can bring your documents to any DMV for verification and your ID will be mailed in 15 days. If you want to walk away with your Real ID the same day, you can bring your documents to the DMV in Norristown, King of Prussia, or Southwest Philadelphia. For more information and to find out which documents are necessary go to: https://www.dmv.pa.gov/REALID/Pages/default.aspx
