PennDOT brined expressways and salted roads well in advance of today's storm. The Philadelphia Streets Department said it was concentrating on primary roads, bridges and areas of high elevation where slippery spots develop. Black Friday began a little shaky in New Jersey —a 2.1-magnitude earthquake was measured near Clementon, a little after midnight. It was the second earthquake to hit New Jersey this month. On Nov. 5, a 2.0-magnitude quake struck the Ringwood area in Passaic County.

Hostess Brands Inc. said yesterday that it failed to reach an agreement with its second-biggest union. As a result, Hostess plans to continue with a hearing today in which a bankruptcy court judge will decide if the company can shutter its operations.
Even if Hostess goes out of business, its popular brands will likely find a second life after being snapped up by buyers.

A New Jersey Senator has introduced early voting legislation. The bill lets voters cast in-person ballots at polling stations beginning 15 days before an election expanding voter access and ensures that if emergencies such as Hurricane Sandy arise, residents aren't faced with being unable to vote.

Two people are dead after a tractor trailer collided with a car in Chester County on Sunday evening. The accident happened shortly after 7 p.m. along Route 41 in Kennett Township, just north of the Delaware border. The identities of the victims were not immediately released.

A New Jersey woman plead guilty Thursday to using her deceased aunt's identity to obtain access to credit card and deposit accounts, causing three banks to lose more than $30,000. Jocelyn Russo pretended to be her aunt JB and used the woman's Social Security number and other personal identifying information to fraudulently add herself to JB's account at Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase. Three women were arrested following a prostitution bust in Philadelphia's Old City neighborhood Wednesday afternoon. Philadelphia Police say they were acting on a tip on an illegal massage parlor that was being run out of a basement. Authorities say there were allegations that there were underage females working at the parlor who were physically and verbally abused. Investigators say they have a long history with the location, dating back to 1998.
