Fast moving storms dumped about one to two inches of rain in a short period of time today, leaving streets flooded in Wildwood and North Wildwood. A group of four were huddled under an umbrella near Cedar Avenue seeking shelter during the storm when a bolt of lightning struck nearby and traveled up the umbrella, injuring a male and female. The two were taken to the Cape Regional Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating a double shooting in the Wynnefield section of the city last night near 54th and Berks streets.
One of the men who was shot drove himself to Presbyterian hospital. The second man, who was shot in the face, is in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Authorities are investigating whether the two men were shooting at each other.

Authorities have found the body of a 52-year-old Bucks County man who vanished off the coast of North Wildwood last weekend. Brad Smith's body was found Monday morning on a city beach. Authorities say the Horsham resident and another man were walking with their daughters in knee-deep water in the Hereford Inlet late Friday afternoon when they apparently fell into a drop in the sand. 26 year old, Mathew Phillip Sinson, was taken into custody Saturday morning when police found a portable meth lab at the center city Hampton Inn and he's been charged. But, a second suspect remains at large. Police confiscated multiple grams of methamphetamine with a street value of around $71,000.00;
various chemical components for the manufacturing of methamphetamine, and paraphernalia such as funnels, containers, and grinding equipment.

A priest accused of sexually assaulting a minor inside a Philadelphia church 15 years ago surrendered to authorities Thursday night. Father Andrew McCormick turned himself into police at the Special Victims Unit Thursday night. According to investigators, Fr. Philadelphia City Councilman Jim Kenney is joining those blasting the head of the fast food chain Chick fil A for his comments against gay marriage. Dan Cathy, the Baptist president of the fast food chain last week denounced gay marriage on a radio show, saying he supports the Biblical definition of a family unit. Kenney's letter is just one voice in a national backlash against the fast-food chain. Gay-rights groups have planned a “kiss-in” at Chick-fil-A restaurants next week.

Two teenagers, who were working as part-time summer counselors at General Wayne Park in Merion are under investigation for discharging an airsoft pistol on two day campers on Wednesday. One boy reported being struck on the pinky finger and the other in the back, on his upper shoulder blade. The teens have been suspended without pay, with the intent to dismiss.

Overbrook Teens Shot and Killed, Center City Robbers Arrested, Margaritaville Atlantic City

Teen brothers, 13 and 17, were shot and killed in the city's Overbrook neighborhood Tuesday night. The shooting happened inside a home in the 1300 block of Westbury Drive a little before 7:45 p.m. Investigators say the 13-year-old boy was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim died at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania a short time later after being shot in the chest.

Gov. Chris Christie has ordered that flags on public buildings around New Jersey be lowered to half-staff on Wednesday in honor of those killed in the shooting rampage at a Colorado movie theater. Christie's order follows one by President Barack Obama that flags be flown at half-staff on federal buildings.

The NCAA announced Sunday that it will issue sanctions against Penn State in the wake of a scathing report that found that top university officials buried child sex abuse allegations against Jerry Sandusky and led to the tearing down of the famed statue of once sainted coach Joe Paterno.
