Jerry Sandusky, the defendant in a child sex abuse case, will be allowed to see his grandchildren, according to a judge's order issued Monday morning.
The jury for the upcoming trial, intended to start May 14, will come from Centre County. Prosecutors requested a jury from outside the county to avoid any connection to Sandusky or the victims.
But Sandusky and his lawyers wanted a jury from inside the county, and the judge granted their request.

A security "fast lane" for travelers is coming to Philadelphia International Airport.
The TSA's Pre-Check program is designed to move passengers deemed "low risk" through a designated security line.
But it's only for those frequent fliers who pre-register, volunteering personal information so the government can pre-screen them for security.
The program may be in Philadelphia by the end of the year.
The TSA’s... Read More |

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter is concerned about certain aspects of the budget unveiled by Governor Tom Corbett this week.
Nutter feels mental health services, support for homelessness prevention, and public education may bear the brunt.
Governor Corbett, in his budget address, said reductions to the Department of Public Welfare were meant to — as he put it — "right-size" the state’s public welfare system.
Mayor Nutter says... Read More |

Villanova University has launched a $200-million-plus building project that will transform two parking lots on Lancaster Avenue into a Gothic "gateway" to campus and include two residence halls, a parking garage, and a performing-arts center.
The chief goal of the plan is to create more on-campus housing for students, many of whom live in surrounding Main Line towns and often annoy residents with their antics.
Currently, Villanova guarantees housing for 4,400... Read More |

A once-powerful Pennsylvania House speaker was found guilty this week of corruption and related charges.
William DeWeese was Democratic leader of the state House when he was accused of using public resources, mainly staff, for campaign purposes. He is still a sitting member of the House.
DeWeese’s lawyer vowed to appeal the verdict, and DeWeese said he would seek re-election. He would be required to give up his House seat upon sentencing.

Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his lair to "see" his shadow on Thursday, in the process predicting six more weeks of winter.
The groundhog made his "prediction" on Gobbler's Knob, a tiny hill in the town for which he's named about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
The Groundhog Day celebration is rooted in a German superstition that says if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2, the Christian holiday of Candlemas, winter will last another six... Read More |
