TV’s 6ABC reported Wednesday that U.S. Rep. Bob Brady had brokered a deal for Occupy Philly to relocate across the street from Dilworth Plaza to the plaza at the Municipal Services Building by Monday.

The Center City District announced yesterday afternoon that the Daniel J. Keating Co. had been awarded the construction contract for a $50 million makeover of Dilworth Plaza.

The city then posted an official notice advising Occupy Philly members on the plaza to... Read More

The National Weather Service announced that 2011 is the wettest year in Philadelphia weather history.

The precipitation total - including all that melted snow and ice - has reached 56.66 inches at Philadelphia International Airport.

The annual average is 41.3 inches. This year's accumulation had blown past that mark by the time Irene's downpours ended Aug. 28.
It’s the wettest 10-year period in 138 years of record-keeping, edging out the 1970s.

Todd Rundgren reunites with Utopia at the Tower Theater.

Born and raised in Upper Darby, it’s only fitting that he and the original Utopia members of four decades ago bring it all back home this weekend. The band’s been playing 10 song set, one song encore on the tour.

Most shows are strictly Utopia material, no Todd solo hits.

Utopia and Todd Rundgren album tracks can be heard on these iradiophilly.com stations: Bellbottoms, Libra, and... Read More

Philadelphia Eagles DeSean Jackson Venting--Michael Vick Broken Ribs

DeSean Jackson was deactivated for Sunday's loss to Arizona because he failed to attend a team meeting a day earlier. Initially, it was thought that Jackson simply overslept.

Jackson’s explanation on Monday didn't mention anything about sleeping too late. A team source said Sunday that the missed meeting wasn't the first incident of the season with Jackson.
Michael Vick suffered broken ribs in the loss and his status for Sunday night against the Giants is uncertain.Read More

Nine games into the season, and the Philadelphia Eagles are 3-6. Andy Reid promoted Juan Castillo from offensive line coach to defensive coordinator, and now the defense has gone from subpar last year, to awful this year.

The Eagles have blown five fourth-quarter leads. Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals and fourth quarter collapse was tied to penalties, mental errors, and physical mistakes.

Regarding the defense, Andy Reid says we have to fix it. Castillo... Read More

Occupy Philly Not High On Mayor Nutter's List

  by: Rebel - Havertown, PA
started: 11/14/11 11:01 am | updated: 11/14/11 11:01 am

Sounds like Mayor Nutter has had enough of Occupy Philly. It’s already cost taxpayers more than $500,000 in police overtime and other expenses, and is now threatening to derail a $50 million revitalization project at Dilworth Plaza.

That's nearly 1,000 jobs that would put food on the table of the "99 percent" that Occupy Philly claims to represent. Jesse Jackson showed up Sunday afternoon and urged Philadelphia protesters to never surrender.

Mayor Nutter’s... Read More

Penn State Coach Joe Paterno, one of the true legends of coaching, has had his career ended by scandal. His 46 year reign, and 62 year run on the coaching staff at Penn State has ended.

2 weeks ago, fans and players were all exulting in Paterno's 409th victory, which made him the winningest coach in Division I history. Over the years, he contributed more than $4 million to Penn State's general fund, which is why the names of he and his wife, Sue, are on the library instead of... Read More
