Diocese of Harrisburg officials say Bishop Joseph McFadden died of a heart attack last week after suddenly falling ill while attending a meeting of the Catholic Bishops of Pennsylvania. McFadden died unexpectedly Thursday morning at a hospital near Philadelphia. Officials say McFadden awoke feeling ill and was taken to a hospital. He was 65 years old.

The British parent company of the PokerStars website says it still wants to buy an Atlantic City casino, even though a deal to obtain it fell through on Wednesday. The Rational Group said Thursday night it wants to try to save its deal to purchase The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel. The casino said Wednesday the purchase deal was dead, but declined to say why.

SEPTA officials say an off duty Philadelphia Police officer was stabbed in Northeast Philadelphia Monday night. The incident happened at about 10 p.m. on the 4900 block of Grant Avenue, east of the SEPTA Torresdale Station. The officer was not exiting the station. There is no word on a suspect or motive at this time.

A soda bottle wrapped up in electrical tape prompted a scare Sunday afternoon at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, New Jersey. The incident happened around 4 p.m. when someone found the tape covered soda bottle and thought it looked suspicious. Authorities were notified and the bottle was destroyed. It turned out to be a false alarm.

SEPTA fare evaders, usually young men and women, are being put on notice; if they jump a turnstile to avoid paying the fare, SEPTA is watching. SEPTA now has 1,100 live feed cameras as part of a $50 million video and camera monitoring initiative to catch fare jumpers and keep the system safe for riders. The Coast Guard has suspended it search for 32-year-old David McAuliffe, who went missing Tuesday morning aboard a commercial tow boat off the coast of South Jersey. Crews searched more than 400 square miles, for a total of 65 hours. It was reported that Cape Hatteras had survival equipment aboard, including two survival suits and two life rafts.

Penn's Annenberg School is hosting an event tonight marking the 50th anniversary of a landmark bit of communication, Martin Luther King Jr's Letter from Birmingham Jail. One of the featured speakers is Delaware County native Jonathan Rieder, Sociology Professor at Barnard College and author of a book on the Letter. A pedestrian was struck and killed on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in King of Prussia on Monday night. It was about 10:45 p.m. last night on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near the Allendale Road overpass in Upper Merion Township where the person was fatally struck by a tractor trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer stopped at the scene. There is no word on what caused the incident.
