Four Temple Football Players In NFL Combine; NBA All Star Weekend; Phillies First Full Practice

Temple University's football program has now announced that four of its players are going to participate in the 2017 NFL combine in Indianapolis. The four players are DL Haason Reddick, OL Dion Dawkins, DB Nate Hariston, and RB Jahad Thomas. Dawkins, Reddick and Thomas are all New Jersey natives, and Hariston is from Frederick, Maryland. The 2017 NFL combine will take place between February 28th and March 6th at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a twelve-year-old girl was involved in an armed robbery that took place in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia. The robbery took place on the 7900 block of Leon street at around 4:30 pm on Thursday. Police say the suspect, who is believed to be a 15-year-old boy, approached the girl and robbed her of her cell phone. Luckily the girl was not injured in the robbery, but police are still searching for the suspect.

Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a man was critically injured in a stabbing that took place in West Philadelphia on Wednesday morning. The stabbing happened along the 600 block of North 52nd Street at around 9:30 am. The 28-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times and was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Police are still searching for the suspect responsible.

The Sixers have now stated that Joel Embiid will not be participating in the Rising Stars Challenge as well as the Skills Challenge during the All-Star Weekend this upcoming weekend. The Sixers said that he will not be participating due to his injured left knee. The NBA announced that Oklahoma City's Alex Abrines will replace Embiid at the Rising Stars Game and Denver's Nikola Jokic will take Embiid's spot in the Skills Challenge.

A man is now in critical condition after he was shot in the Oak Lane section of Philadelphia Wednesday night. The shooting took place near Lambert Street and Chelten Avenue at around 8:30 pm. Police were in pursuit of an armed man, and then called in for backup after shots were fired. After backup came, three officers discharged their weapons. A Catholic School teacher in Norristown has been accused of sexual abuse charges involving a 3-year-old girl. 32-year-old Michael Barbee, a teacher at the early learning program at Saint Francis Of Assisi Parish in Norristown has been placed in police custody. Police officers say that Barbee admitted to touching the three year old child during nap time at the school. The Sixers have now stated that Jahlil Okafor will be joining the team on Wednesday night against the Celtics. Okafor has been in the midst of a trade rumor between the Sixers and the Pelicans, and has not been playing much because of it. Head Coach Brett Brown said earlier this week that playing Okafor in the middle of the trade talks could complicate things. Lehigh Valley authorities are now investigating a fire that broke out in North Whitehall Township on Tuesday night. The fire broke out at around 7 pm at the old Rockdale Hotel on the 1800 block of Rockdale Road. The hotel had been converted into a three-story house. The fire was eventually put out by the responding fire crews, but the building appeared to be completely destroyed. Luckily no injuries were reported in fire.

Falls Township Police have arrested a major drug dealer in Bucks County. Darren Thompson was placed into police custody on Tuesday and is accused of dealing large amounts of heroin in Falls and Bristol Townships. Falls Township detectives have been investigating Thompson for the past four months and say that undercover officers had bought over 70 bags of heroin from him in those months. Thompson reportedly sold over 1,400 bags of heroin a week.
