The Philadelphia Parking Authority will continue to offer their annual free holiday parking throughout the city at meters. The free parking will be available on Saturdays starting after 11 am. The Philadelphia Parking Authority stated they want visitors to take advantage of the free parking, while they can take in the sights, sounds, and food Philly has to offer. Three people were injured during a shooting that took place in the Juniata section of Philadelphia Thursday morning. The incident happened on the 4000 Block of Howland Street just before 11 am when the three victims were hanging up Christmas lights outside of their home. Police say a dark grey Chevy Impala had driven by the house and then backed up. A verbal altercation then occurred between the suspects in the car and the victims. Many Wine and Spirit stores in Pennsylvania have reported that their credit card machines are completely down, making it a nightmare for customers on the night before Thanksgiving. With machines down, the stores that are affected can only take cash as a form of payment, and many customers were unable to make their purchases. Philadelphia Police, as well as SWAT teams and fire crews responded to a call of a man who had barricaded himself in a West Philadelphia home. The incident took place at 53rd Street and Haverford Avenue just before 7 pm. It is suspected that the person inside the home is possibly known by law enforcement. Streets and highways of Center City Philadelphia were tied up this afternoon after a bull had gotten out and was running loose. The incident took place at around 2 p.m. when a bull escaped from a slaughterhouse on the 2100 block of North Hancock Street. Police are now investigating after a 14-year-old girl was struck by a stray bullet while sitting in a home in the Logan section of Philadelphia. The shooting took place on the 4400 block of North Gratz Street at around 6:10 pm on Monday night. Police stated that the bullet came from a block away at 4500 and Gratz Street. The United States Geological Survey has reported that Fukushima, Japan was hit with a 6.9 magnitude earthquake on Monday and have now reported a possible Tsunami. The earthquake formed at a depth of 10 kilometers off the eastern coast of Fukushima and tremors from the earthquake could be felt as far away as Tokyo. The 23rd Annual Philadelphia Marathon was held on Sunday that brought out tens of thousands of runners to run the city-wide course in the windy and cold weather. Around 30,000 runners crossed the starting line starting at 7 am Sunday, beginning their 26.2 mile run starting at Eakins Oval, down the parkway to Race Street, then along the Delaware River to Chestnut, then through Kelly Drive to Manayunk, finishing up at Ben Franklin Parkway. Philadelphia Police are now investigating after an 8-year-old girl was hit by a car in Overbrook. The incident happened Friday at around 3:30 pm on 63rd Street and Lansdowne Avenue. Police have stated that the girl was hit by the car, and the driver proceeded to flee the scene in his car. Students at the University of Pennsylvania staged a walk out on Thursday morning in protest against the racist messages sent to numerous black freshman last week.
