Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a woman was found dead inside of a minivan at a strip mall in Northeast Philadelphia. The van was found with a cloth outside the window, which usually indicates an abandoned car. Upon further investigation, a body was found inside. The body was found by two pedestrians on their way to work. The 53-year-old victim may have been living in the van, she was found frozen, but officials are unsure if the extreme cold was the cause of death.... Read More

Tuesday is the inauguration day for the new District Attorney elect in Philadelphia. Larry Krasner will take the oath of office on Tuesday morning at the Kimmel Center in Center City Philadelphia. Krasner is a long time civil rights attorney. He will be succeeding former DA Seth Williams who resigned from office in June after he plead guilty to corruption charges and is currently serving a 5 year prison sentence. A missing man from Philadelphia with dementia has now been located. 66-year-old Edward Sojourner was found on Sunday after he had wandered off from the VA Medical Center on the 3900 block of Woodland Avenue. Officials say that the he left the medical center at around 10:40 pm on Saturday. Family and medical officials were worried due to Sojourner's condition as well as the freezing temperatures. He is now reportedly home and safe with his family.

A Code Blue still remains in effect in Philadelphia until further notice. City officials called a Code Blue starting on Christmas Day once the frigid weather started to enter the area. Officials say that homeless outreach teams will be patrolling the streets to invite the homeless in the city to stay indoors at local shelters and homes. A teenager has now been ordered to stand trial for the shooting deaths of two teens in October that took place in South Philadelphia. A judge on Wednesday has ordered 16-year-old Brandon Olivieri to stand trial on all charges for the murders of two 16-year-olds, Caleer Miller and Salvatore DiNubile. Both teens were shot outside of DiNubile's home, which is about seven blocks away from Olivieri's house. Investigators say that the victims were on opposite sides of a feud between two... Read More

Three cities in the U.S. filed a federal lawsuit on Tuesday against the Department of Defense. Philadelphia, along with New York City and San Francisco, are arguing that many members who are not qualified from gun ownership weren't reported on the FBI's national background check system. The cities filed court papers stating that the military's broken system for dispensing such information was one of the reasons for the massacre in a Texas church that left 26 people dead. Firefighters spent Christmas night battling a fire in Sussex County, Delaware. The fire broke out at around 7:30 pm on Monday in Slaughter Beach on Bay Avenue and Bench Road. Crews say that the fire spread to several other homes on the block. Firefighters say that the fire reached 4-alarms and was still blazing well into the late night hours of Monday. A man was shot to death in the Kensington section after doing a good deed for a neighbor. 26-year-old Elliot Cortez was closing up his shop on 2nd and Westmoreland streets in Kensington. Cortez then helped a nearby store owner lower the gate to his store when two men approached him. The suspects tried to rob Cortez but this is when police say an altercation ensued. Philadelphia Police are now investigating after four people were found lying in the road, all with gunshot wounds, as a result of a domestic dispute. Police found the victims on Thursday night at around 9:30 pm on the 6600 block of Dorel Street. Police arrived on the scene with reports of gunshots, which led them to the victims in the road. The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office has charged a Philadelphia police officer with assault and a DUI after an accident that occurred last year in Southwest Philadelphia. Officials say that 36-year-old Kevin Kline was off duty last Christmas Eve driving on Passyunk Avenue, when he hit a car and proceeded to flee the scene.
