Brandon Olivieri has been found guilty of 1st degree murder of 16-year-old Salvatore DiNubile and 3rd degree murder of 16-year-old Caleer Miller by a Philadelphia jury Friday afternoon, 5/17. He was 16-years-old in October 2017 when he shot and killed the teens on the street near 12th and Ritner streets. In opening statements, the prosecution said that Olivieri had been embarrassed by DiNubile in a previous fight and went looking for him that night. Olivieri pulled a gun and DiNubile was shot trying to wrestle it away from him. Miller was Olivieri's friend and was hit in the crossfire. The prosecution called numerous eye witnesses that said Olivieri was the shooter. The defense claims the prosecution was based on 'inconsistencies, confusion and chaos.' They also point out that there is no gun found or forensic evidence that points to his client. There has been heightened tensions in this trial between the two sides. There was added security with an extra metal detector and a larger courtroom with a glass separation. Olivieri faces life in prison.

A woman was shot to death in North Philadelphia on Thursday night, 5/16, an police are trying to determine if she was the intended target or was just caught in the crossfire. It happened around 10:20 p.m on the 2200 block of 23rd Street. The 42-year-old female was taken to Temple University Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police found two different caliber shell casings in two different areas of 23rd Street leading them to believe it was a shootout. They are looking into surveillance footage in the area.

Police are investigating after several cars were keyed and tires slashed in West Philadelphia early Friday morning. It happened near South 50th Street and Market Street. Residents noticed the damage around 6:30 a.m. when they were leaving for work. Around 8 cars were damaged. Neighbors fixed the tires themselves or waited for AAA to arrive. If you have any information call the 18th District at 215-686-3180.
