Last weekend, a Lyft driver who became concerned that a scheduled pickup wasn't outside and ready when she arrived, sensed something greater was wrong when there was no response after knocking on the door. Clara Simmons has been driving for the ride sharing service for only 2 months. On Saturday, 5/11, at 7:30 a.m. she responded to a scheduled pick up for 86-year-old Millicent Hill on Catherine Street in the Cobbs Creek neighborhood. It had been scheduled by her nephew. Hill had gotten up at 4:30 a.m. to get ready to go to her sister-in-law's funeral. She slipped and fell in the tub while trying to get out and was stuck. It wasn't until Simmons decided to investigate, instead of just driving off, that Hill was eventually found. Simmons called 911 when she couldn't get an answer at the door, but she heard dogs barking inside like there was an emergency. Firefighters came and rescued Hill after being in the tubs for hours. She only suffered a minor injury to her shoulder. After all that, Simmons gave her the ride to the funeral.

Police in Middletown Township, Bucks County, have arrested a Penndel woman after she allegedly crashed her minivan with her three children inside while she was driving under the influence. It happened on May 10th around 5:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Forsythia Way in Levittown. 23-year-old Mackenzie Stanley crashed into two cars before coming to rest on a front lawn. Christian Gallardo was one of the involved motorists and went over to help. He said that two children got out on their own. The third was an infant sitting in a car seat that unbuckled. No one was injured. Police found almost two dozen open airplane size alcohol bottles in the van. Stanley was arrested and charged with multiple counts including DUI and endangering the welfare of a child. The children are in the care of their grandmother. Stanley is free on $25,000 unsecured bond.

Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect in a double shooting in the Poplar neighborhood near Northern Liberties on Friday night, 5/17. It happened around 8:20 p.m. on the 700 block of Green Street. A 31-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Hahnemann University Hospital. A 24-year-old woman, who was just a bystander, was shot in the leg and abdomen. She is in critical but stable condition at Hahnemann University Hospital. Shots rang out just a few blocks away at 10th and Brown around the same time. A 37-year-old woman was shot in the foot. She is at the hospital in stable condition. No arrests have been made.
