The Philadelphia Mummers Parade has been moved to Sunday, January 2 due to the forecast for rain on New Year's Day. The schedule for the String Bands, Comic, and Wench Brigades march down Broad Street will remain the same, just shifted one day. The Fancy Brigades will still perform Saturday's ticketed shows at the Pennsylvania Convention Center at 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. since those are inside. The fireworks scheduled for Saturday, 1/1, at 6 p.m. at Penn's Landing have also been canceled. Friday's fireworks at 6 p.m. and Midnight will go on as planned.

Six people were injured when gunmen opened fire on a Germantown street on Thursday night, 12/30. It happened around 11:30 p.m on the on the 5100 block of Germantown Avenue near Collom Street. The shooting was caught on surveillance video. A white van pulled up at the intersection and several men jumped out. They began shooting at a crowd of people on the street before jumping back in the vehicle and fleeing. Police say that they found 87 shell casings at the scene. Police found one 21-year-old female victim at the scene when they arrived and rushed her to Temple University Hospital in critical condition. Five men ranging in age from 19 to 29 years old arrived at local hospitals with various gunshot wounds. 2021 has already set the record for most shootings and homicides in Philadelphia history.
