A man working as a construction subcontractor for a Berks County school is accused of trying to lure a 13-year-old girl. 34-year-old Jeremy Kreiser is charged with attempted indecent assault and attempted unlawful contact of a minor. He was arrested on Tuesday, 1/11. Kreiser was working as a private construction subcontractor and was not an employee of the Reading School District. The district says that he passed all clearances required to work at the school. Reading Police say that Kreiser contacted an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old girl on social media on Monday, 1/10. They say he started an "inappropriate conversation." Police say he tried to get the supposed teen girl to meet him outside the elementary school where he was working. On Tuesday, police say he "took physical steps towards meeting the juvenile" and was arrested. He was released from jail after posting $15,000 bail.

A woman was killed in an early morning house fire in South Jersey on Thursday, 1/13. It happened around 4 a.m. on the 1300 block of Tatum Street in West Deptford. Fire crews arrived to heavy flames coming from one house, which had spread to a second home. A 54-year-old woman was killed in the blaze. A 57-year-old man, 26-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman, and 1-month-old child escaped the first home. They were all taken to the hospital. Three people in the second home made it out ok. Those two homes collapsed. A third home also sustained damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A teenage carjacking suspect was shot and critically injured by his potential victim while attempting to carjack a vehicle in Philadelphia on Thursday evening, 1/13. It happened around 7:30 p.m. on the 6500 block Cherokee Street in West Mount Airy. The 16-year-old male suspect approached a 60-year-old man who was leaving his vehicle. The teen was armed with a gun and demanded the man's keys. The victim then pulled out his weapon. The two exchanged gunfire. The victim was not hit, but the teen was hit twice in the legs. Police say there were 17 shell casings found at the scene. The suspect was able to flee. He was found nearby on the 6700 block of Germantown Avenue inside a jeep. That jeep had been stolen in a carjacking last weekend. The teen was taken to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition. The victim legally possessed his weapon.
