Former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane was sentenced to two months to one year in jail on a probation violation after she was arrested for drunk driving in March. Kane was then granted time served and was paroled directed to a residential treatment center for alcohol use on Monday, 5/23. She had been in Montgomery County Correctional Facility since April 29. She also received 3 years more of probation. Kane was charged with drunk driving and reckless driving following a car crash on March 12 in Scranton. She told responding officers that she was a designated driver and had gone to pick her sister up from a restaurant. Kane refused a breathalyzer test but failed field sobriety tests. Surveillance video from the restaurant showed Kane drinking shortly before leaving. A bench warrant was issued days later in Montgomery County for the probation violation. 55-year-old Kane was convicted in 2016 of leaking grand jury information and then lying about it. She served 8 months of a 10-23 months sentence. She was released in 2019.

Pennsylvania Lt. Governor John Fetterman left Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital on Sunday morning, 5/22. The Democratic party's nominee for U.S. Senate spent over a week in the hospital after suffering a stroke on Friday, May 13. He had emergency surgery to remove a blood clot. Fetterman had another surgery on Tuesday, May 17, to implant a pacemaker to regulate atrial fibrillation (A-fib). Despite the health concerns, he claimed victory in the primary, also held on Tuesday. He is heading home to recover and will not be hitting the campaign trail right away. The Republican nominee will not be known until after a recount. The race between David McCormick and Dr. Mehmet Oz remains too close to call.

Three teens were shot and injured outside of a high school in North Philadelphia on Monday afternoon, 5/23. It happened around 3 p.m. near the intersection of 17th and Pike Streets in Nicetown. Simon Gratz High School Mastery Charter and Mastery Prep Elementary Charter School are located on that block. A car puled up and opened fire. A 15-year-old was shot in the thigh and is in critical condition at Temple University Hospital. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the foot and is in stable condition at the hospital. A 16-year-old suffered a graze wound to the arm. No arrests have been made.
