A Pennsylvania man was arrested for attempting to buy human remains that were stolen by an Arkansas woman. He then planned to sell them online. 40-year-old Jeremy Lee Pauley of Enola, Cumberland County, is charged with abuse of a corpse, receiving stolen property, and other offenses. Pauley sells medical "oddities" including human body parts and bones through his Facebook page called "The Grand Wunderkammer." A woman in Arkansas had stolen remains that were supposed to be donated to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Pauley was already under investigation when he attempted to buy these stolen remains and the deal was stopped. The FBI is dealing with the case in Arkansas. Pauley was arrested on July 22 and released on $50,000 bond.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney announced new rewards for information on shootings that result in injuries that occur near schools, recreation centers, and libraries. The City of Philadelphia will offer $10,000 for tips that lead to the arrest and conviction of anyone who fires a gun and wounds another person within 500 ft of those locations. "These are public spaces. They belong to the residents and families who live nearby. We will not allow perpetrators of senseless violence to interfere with the education and development of our city's children," Kenney said in a written statement. The city still has a standing $20,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of suspects involved in a homicide. If you have any information about a shooting or homicide, call or text 215-686-TIPS (8477).

The Service Employees International Union Local 32BJ voted on Saturday, August 20, to authorize a strike. The union represents service workers of the School District of Philadelphia which includes 2,000 Philadelphia School District workers, attendants, building cleaners, bus drivers, engineers, mechanics, and trades workers. The union and school district are in negotiations over wages and safety conditions. The current contract expires on August 31. Workers are set to strike at that time if a new contract is not reached.
