Belmar has re-opened after too many people overcrowded the shore town prompting the mayor to close access roads to outsiders. Mayor Matt Doherty ordered closing access from Route 35 for safety reasons as beachgoers and visitors to a seafood festival created the over-crowding. Belmar was officially closed to outsiders for about four hours and re-opened at about 7 pm yesterday.
