The Sheraton in Center City was evacuated early this morning because of smoke in the basement. About 4am the fire department was called to the scene and about 1,000 people had to get out of bed and onto the streets outside the 26 story hotel. The origin of the smoke was an electrical panel in the HVAC system. After about 4 hours outside, guests were allowed to return to their rooms.

Pennsylvania SPCA officers rescued a dog who was choking and tied to a fence in North Philadelphia on Tuesday. The brown and white pitbull was tied using a short cable and electrical tape to a chain link fence surrounding the tennis courts in Awbury Park. A casino robbery in Atlantic City saw two masked gunmen make off with more than $180,000 in cash. It happened Monday morning at Caesars Atlantic City. Sources say the suspects fled in a car with two plastic cash boxes containing the cash. The State Police Casino Gaming Bureau is handling the investigation.
