Police in Mansfield Township say a bear was spotted Thursday afternoon in the Homestead Development off of Jacksonville Road. The Federal Highway Administration has determined what caused the I-495 bridge to tilt. They say it was the huge piles of dirt dropped alongside the bridge supports by Jim Thomas of Keogh Contracting. Officials say the piles displaced soil underneath the support columns causing them to tilt. Repairs are continuing around the clock and will be paid for by federal emergency relief funds.
