Yesterday a federal judge lifted the ban on gay marriage in Pennsylvania opening the flood-gates for same-sex couples to get marriage licenses. Judge John E. Jones said the plaintiffs in the case were courageous for challenging the constitutionality of the gay marriage ban in place since 1996.

Philadelphia police believe a man killed in a car crash this morning may have been a suspect in an overnight rape in the city. The vehicle was travelling at high speed in Kensington on Boudinot Street, failed to negotiate a turn and slammed into a fence. The driver died on impact.
