Philadelphia Police are investigating after two South Philly locations were vandalized with anti-Columbus Day messages Monday, 10/8. The messages were spray painted on the sidewalk outside the History of Italian Immigration Museum on East Passyunk Avenue around 9:30 a.m. They said "Italian-Americans against racism" and "End Columbus Day." The man accused of killing a model in her Main Line apartment this past summer appeared in court for a preliminary hearing on Friday. 30-year-old Jonathan Harris of Johnstown, PA, is charged with the murder of 36-year-old Christina Kraft in her Ardmore condo on Sibley Ave early in the morning of August 22nd. A Havertown, Delaware County, man has been arrested and charged with raping a 14-year-old old that he met on the Whisper app. 22-year-old Joseph Valiquette is charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, statutory sexual assault, and other charges. Sometime overnight Tuesday, 10/2, a several thousand pound granite and bronze statue of a Viking explorer located at the top of Boathouse Row along Kelly Drive was toppled over and into the Schuylkill River. The statue of Thorfinn Karlsefni has stood there since 1920. Karlsefni was an Icelandic explorer who followed the path of Leif Eriksson to North America in 1010 AD.
