A growing list of Philadelphia area universities and colleges are altering their schedules and halting in-person classes and activities in response to the coronavirus COVID-19. Many are extending spring break and using that time for faculty to prepare for remote learning. Villanova, Penn State, Princeton, Delaware and Swarthmore will begin virtual learning in the next week or two. Philadelphia police have arrested and charged a man in the shooting of a 4-year-old boy on Saturday night, 3/7. 23-year-old Jerrod Miner is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and weapons charges. It happened around 8 p.m. on the 5500 block of North 4th Street in the city's Olney section. Miner was inside the home playing around a group of children when he brought out a gun. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf signed an emergency disaster declaration on Friday, 3/6, in response to any impending coronavirus outbreak in the state.
