A 9-year-old girl was shot and killed inside her home in North Philadelphia on Wednesday morning, 1/20. It happened around 11 a.m. on the 2300 block of Bouvier Street. She was shot once in the head. The child was rushed to Temple University Hospital where she was pronounced dead around 1:50 p.m. The girl was home alone with a 12-year-old and a 5-year-old. Pennsylvania health officials announced on Tuesday, 1/19, that they are expanding the coronavirus COVID-19 eligibility requirements. Phase 1A will now include people age 65 and older plus anyone 16-64 with serious health conditions that put them at risk of developing serious illness. President-elect Joe Biden has selected Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine to be his assistant secretary of health. She could be the first openly transgender federal official confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Levine, a pediatrician by training, was appointed to her current position by PA Governor Tom Wolf in 2017. The director of a Philadelphia non-profit is back home after being held in South America after testing positive for coronavirus COVID-19. Brian Jenkins is Executive Director of Chosen 300 Ministries which provides services for the homeless and hungry. Chosen 300 also has missions in other parts of the world.
