Teen Charged With Synagogue Vandalism; Temple Renames Media School; Man Tries To Abduct Woman

Police have now placed a teenager in to custody for vandalizing a synagogue in the Tacony section of Philadelphia. A 13-year-old boy has now been charged with the incident which took place this past Sunday. The teen threw a baseball sized rock through a stained glass window at Temple Menorah Keneseth Chai. A student aide at Drexel Hill Middle School was arrested on Wednesday after police discovered a loaded gun and several rounds in his backpack. The school called police when a bullet was found in an employee restroom and turned in to school officials. The 32-year-old male aide came forward and claimed the bullet was his but initially denied having a weapon. However, a search of his bag turned up a loaded .40-caliber Glock and extra ammunition. Police are now searching for a suspected gunman who still remains at large after a barricade situation ended in North Philadelphia. Police and a SWAT team arrived at 17th and Susquehanna Avenue at around 4 pm on Tuesday after a 17-year-old boy was shot by a man in the right hip. The boy was taken to Temple University Hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition. Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams has until the end of the week to find a new lawyer to represent him in his federal corruption and bribery case. Late last week his current attorney, Michael Diamondstein, filed a motion to withdraw. Diamondstein cited ethical conflicts and Williams' inability to afford his rates as reasons for withdrawing. Philadelphia police have arrested a woman described as the caretaker of a toddler found dead last week in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia. 22-year-old Jedayah Nesmith is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering another person, concealing child death and abuse of a corpse. Philadelphia Police formed a barricade at an apartment building in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia on Monday night. Police arrived on the scene after getting reports of gunshots coming from the top floor. Responding officers began to set up a perimeter along the 500 block of Front Street at around 6:30 pm. Police say that a construction worker was killed on Monday afternoon in an industrial accident in Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County. It happened around 1 p.m. Monday at the former Cheltenham Mall on the 2400 block of Cheltenham Avenue. The mall is currently under construction. The Philadelphia Police Marine unit pulled a badly decomposed body from the Schuylkill River this morning. A police boat recovered the body of a man around 10 a.m. near the 2500 block of Locust Street right along the Schuylkill River Trail. The medical examiner was called to the scene to help investigators determine race and age. An autopsy will need to be performed to determine cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.

Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a teen was injured in a shooting in West Philadelphia. The shooting took place near 50th and Haverford Avenue just before 4 pm. Police arrived on the scene to find the teenager with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was then rushed to The Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia. Police are still searching for the suspect or suspects responsible.
