This season of Penn State football could have been a complete disaster. However, most players decided to stay in Happy Valley and play for a team under heavy sanctions that is ineligible for the postseason for the next 3 years. The Nittany Lions finished the season 8-4 and first year coach Bill O'Brien won Big Ten Coach of the Year honors.

Now, Matt McGloin, quarterback for the Penn State Nittany Lions, has been selected as a finalist for the Burlsworth Trophy. The award is given... Read More

  by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA
started: 11/05/12 2:52 am | updated: 11/05/12 2:53 am

The Philadelphia Phillies' Double-A minor league affiliate Reading Phillies had announced last week that they had started to undergo a rebranding process that would at the very least change the look of the team. It sounded like a uniform and logo redesign. Since 1967, the Reading Phillies have always had a uniform that mirrored the Philadelphia major league team with red pinstripes and hats with a script "R" instead of "P".

Today, the club announced that this rebranding process... Read More

Phillies Finish .500, Fire 3 Coaches, 9 Year Winning Streak is Over

  by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA
started: 10/03/12 11:45 pm | updated: 10/03/12 11:45 pm

The Phillies lost today 5-1 to the 2012 NL East Champion Washington Nationals. They finished the season with a completely unexciting 81-81 record. If you asked anyone at this point last year, when we finished the season off with a team record 102 wins and the best record in MLB, if this would be the scenario left to us this afternoon, most people would have thought it was a hearty joke (even those wishy washy bandwagon fans on the Beltway). It's hard to get extremely mad because it was written... Read More

started: 09/28/12 11:15 pm | updated: 09/28/12 11:15 pm

Chase Utley will not be playing third base this year. The Phillies were contemplating using these last few games to experiment with the All-Star second basemen by switching defensive positions to third base, but have decided to put that idea on hold.

Last month, Utley brought up the possibility to management that he could play on the other side of the diamond. He began to take ground balls over on the corner, working with infield coach Sam Perlozzo, and seemed to be doing well.... Read More
