Phillies place Lee on Disabled List

Phillies have placed left hander Cliff Lee on the 15-day disabled lee with a strained left oblique. This comes just 3 days after Lee pitched 10 scoreless innings in a pitching duel against Matt Cain of the San Fransisco Giants. The Phillies ended up losing that game 1-0 in 11 innings.

Jamie Moyer Becomes Oldest MLB Pitcher to Record a Win

Former Phillie, Souderton, PA native, and St. Joe's alum, Jamie Moyer, entered the record books tonight. Defying all the odds, Moyer, 49, has become the oldest pitcher to ever record a win in Major League Baseball. Born November 18, 1962, he is now 49 and 150 days on Tuesday. Brooklyn's Jack Quinn was 49 and 70 days old when he won on Sept. 13, 1932.

Junior Guard Dominic Cheek has decided to skip his senior year at Villanova and enter the 2012 NBA draft.

"I appreciate all the help I have gotten from my teammates, coaches and friends during my time at Villanova," said Cheek in a statement. "At this point in my life, I feel this is the best decision for me and my family. I am excited to get started with the process of pursuing my dream of playing in the NBA."

On a windy day at the ballpark, the Phillies have lost the opener.

Cole Hamels struck out 9 but allowed 4 runs in 5 1/3 innings as the Phillies lost to the Miami Marlins 6-2.

The Flyers beat the Buffalo Sabres tonight 2-1 knocking the Sabres out of the playoff picture. The Penguins garnered a win over the New York Rangers 5-2. That will officially place the Flyers as the #5 seed and the Penguins #4 in the Eastern Conference. The two Atlantic Division rivals will meet in Round 1 of the NHL playoffs. The Phillies have won the opener beating the Pirates on opening day in Pittsburg. Phillies ace Roy Halladay pitched eight strong innings giving up two hits in the first inning then shut down the Pirates hitters the rest of the way. Former Phillie and Souderton, PA native, Jamie Moyer, has proven once again that he is above the odds, the definition of determination, even if he defies logic at times. At 49, Moyer spent the entire 2011 season recovering from Tommy John surgery. This past January he signed a Minor League contract with the Colorado Rockies and went into Spring Training having to win his way onto the team.
