  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA

The Phillies have delivered on the season of big promise. The pitching staff that graced the cover of Sports Illustrated at the beginning of the season has delivered plenty of wins despite injuries. And the Phillies hitters have delivered runs even though there have been slumps. In all the Phillies gave Charlie Manuel a record breaking 102 wins in a season and eclipsed Gene Mauch for most wins as a Phillies manager. And Phillie fans are enjoying a 5th straight season in the playoffs. Older... Read More

Usually Philadelphia sports fans are labeled with the ugliest behavior. However, in London, Ontario Canada where the Flyers played the Red Wings on Thursday night a fan threw a banana onto the ice at Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds who is black - one of the few black players in the NHL.

Gary Bettman, the NHL commissioner commented, "We have millions of great fans who show tremendous respect for our players and for the game. The obviously stupid and ignorant action by one individual... Read More

Philadelphia Eagles Michael Vick is listed as day-to-day with a bruised hand, Andy Reid said Monday.

Initial reports said Vick suffered a broken right hand, but Reid indicated a blood vessel in an early scan made it look as if there was a fracture.

Michael Vick thinks he is being hit late every week by opponents, but that referees are not calling penalties when they are warranted.

Vick was injured when he was hit by defensive tackle Chris Canty... Read More

Quarterback Michael Vick was knocked from the game and Jeremy Maclin sat out a few plays in the Philadelphia Eagles loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Jimmy Rollins is Activated; Utley To See Specialist; Tonight's Lineup

  by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA
started: 09/08/11 1:55 pm | updated: 09/09/11 3:18 pm

Jimmy Rollins has been activated from the 15-Day Disabled list and is available to play tonight in Milwaukee off the bench. He would most likely wouldn't have been activated until next week but since Chase Utley did not make the trip with the team, Rollins will take the spot as an extra infielder.

Chase will see Dr. Rob Franks at the Rothman Institute who is a concussion specialist. This is all precautionary. Hopefully Utley is alright after getting hit in the back of the helmet... Read More

Phillies Complete Sweep Against Braves With Walk Off; Utley Stays Back to Meet Doctors

  by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA
started: 09/07/11 11:32 pm | updated: 09/07/11 11:32 pm

The Phillies looked to have squashed division rivals, the Atlanta Braves, with a three game sweep pushing them 10 1/2 games back in the standings. It was the first series sweep suffered by the Braves since the Phillies did it to them last September. It also put the Phils at another franchise high 43 games over .500 at 91-48 on their march to a record breaking season with 23 games left.

Not that there really was any doubt that Roy Oswalt, with all his experience, would have that... Read More

Phillies Reach 90 Wins Despite Rain; Tickets Can Still Be Exchanged

  by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA
started: 09/07/11 12:59 am | updated: 09/07/11 12:59 am

The game may have started just under 2 hours late and only a few later innings saw the rain let up to a mist, but the Phillies keep proving they are deserving of the league leading 90-48 record. It was a minor miracle that a window opened up long enough and early enough that baseball could be played last night at a reasonable hour with drenching rains covering the area before and after, but Rookie of the Year candidate Vance Worley improved his record to 11-1 and the Phillies stretched their...
