Vance Worley is being called up to spot start on Saturday in Seattle. That was a fact everyone knew. What kind of roster move the Phillies were going to make to make room for him was unknown until after today's 3-0 win over Florida.

The Phillies have designated lefty J.C. Romero for assignment, effectively ending his stay in Philadelphia, as it's likely he'll be picked up off waivers by another club. Romero joined the Phillies midway through the 2007 season and had been a... Read More

  by: Rebel - Havertown, PA
started: 06/06/11 9:21 am | updated: 06/06/11 9:21 am

There was a court hearing on Friday in St. Louis whether to enforce an injunction to lift the NFL lockout or throw it out on appeal. The judges are saying that a ruling would come in "due course" and suggest that both sides work out a deal in the meantime.

For the players, a deal now would assure them of getting their paychecks in the fall and might be their best chance to get a decent deal before the court ruling really hurts them.

The one way both sides really... Read More

Chase Utley makes first official rehab start

  by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA
started: 05/10/11 11:39 pm | updated: 05/10/11 11:39 pm

When will Chase Utley be back? Well, we have a much better idea on how to answer that question. After he made his first official rehab start today for the Clearwater Threshers, it opens up the 20 day window that he can make minor league rehab appearances before he has to be activated to the major league roster.
