The Sixers are taking on the Orlando Magic tonight at 7, and both teams will be facing some serious absences in their rosters. The Magic will be missing forward Aaron Gordon, who left the Magic's game against the Rockets on Tuesday with a bruised right foot. Magic Forward Jeff Green is also missing from the roster due to the birth of his first child. Jodie Meeks will also be absent on Thursday. ESPN will be releasing the top 50 rising stars in the NBA of 2016-2017 season over the next 10 days, leading up to the Rising Stars Challenge during the All-Star Weekend. Numbers 50-41 were released today, and Sixers rising center Jahlil Okafor was ranked at number 43. Okafor has the fourth highest points per game at 15.1, he also has the second most points scored by a 76er since being drafted. Super Bowl 51 was held on Sunday night which had the New England Patriots going head to head with the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons came out very strong in the first quarter, and held up a strong defense against the Patriots, putting incredible pressure on QB Tom Brady. The Phillies have announced they signed former Chicago Cubs outfielder Chris Coghlan to a minor league contract. Coghlan played for the Cubs for the 2014 and 2015 season, and part of their World Series 2016 season. In 2009, Coghlan won the National League Rookie of the Year Award while he was on the then Florida Marlins. The Phillies have invited Coghlan to come to spring training in Clearwater this spring.

The Hurricanes sealed a 5-1 victory over the Flyers Tuesday night, breaking their 3 game win streak. The Flyers started to fall short in the first period as the Hurricanes led 2-0 and out shot the Flyers 8-4. The Hurricanes then scored again, making it 3-0 at the end of the 2nd period. The Sixers were able to seal a 122-119 victory over the Kings on Monday even without the help of star center Joel Embiid who was out with a left knee contusion. The Sixers were down 16 points in the first half, but they scored 42 points in the third quarter giving them the lead they needed to get a victory. The Philadelphia Union have now signed veteran defender Oguchi Onyewu for the start of their 2017 season. Onyewu has been signed on as a discovery signing, he has had vast experience playing for the top clubs in Europe, as well as representing the United States in the World Cup in 2006 and 2010. The Flyers were able to seal another victory Thursday night against the Maple Leafs beating them 2-1. Wayne Simmonds scored early on in the game to put a point up for the Flyers, and were tied with the Maple Leafs throughout the game. Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Carson Wentz has now hired a quarterback coach to help him with his mechanics over the offseason. Wentz has hired Adam Dedeaux from the training organization 3DQB. Dedeaux is a former USC baseball player, as well as assistant coach, and has trained quarterbacks such as Tom Brady and Drew Brees. Phillies top pitching prospect Matt Imhof has now decided to retire from baseball after he lost his right eye in a freak accident during training. The accident happened during the 2016 season with the Clearwater Thrashers when he was taking part in a stretching exercise using resistance bands.
