The Temple Owls will take on Wake Forest Tuesday in the Military Bowl in Annapolis at 3:30. Temple hasn't played a game since December 3rd when they beat Navy 34-10 to win the American Athletic Conference Championship. The Eagles were able to get a win in Thursday night's game against the Giants. The Eagles beat the Giants 24-19, preventing them from clinching a playoff spot. Last night's game broke the Eagles 5 game losing streak and brought their record to 6-9. The Giants loss also gave Dallas the NFC East Title and a home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Flyers managed to get a win Wednesday night against the Capitals after losing 2 games coming off their 10-game win streak. This was the first time the teams have played since the Flyers got knocked out of the playoffs last season by the Capitals. The Flyers were able to get a 3-2 victory over the Capitals, with Michael Raffl and Claude Giroux scoring goals during the game, and Jakub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds scoring in a tie-breaking shootout. Clay Buchholz, a veteran Boston Red Sox pitcher, has now been traded to the Phillies for minor league second baseman Josh Tobias. Buchholz spent 10 seasons with the Red Sox, and had very high expectations from the team since his start when he threw a no hitter during his second career start. Former Phillies' Shortstop Jimmy Rollins just signed a minor league deal with the San Fransisco Giants. The Giants will be his third team in three years after spending 15 years on the Phillies. The Phillies traded Rollins back in December of 2014 for a pair of minor league players. Since then Rollins has been on the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox. The Phillies have now signed center fielder Odubel Herrera to a five-year contract that will last through the 2021 season. The Phillies acquired Herrera back in 2014 in the Rule 5 draft from of the Texas Rangers. This past 2016 season Herrera batted a .286 ERA, with 21 doubles, six triples, 15 home runs, 87 runs and 25 stolen bases. Herrera also was selected to be on the National League All-Star team. The Flyers have now extended their win streak to 10 games, making this the longest winning streak since 1985. The Flyers took on the Colorado Avalanche Wednesday night in what turned out to be a tough and very close game. It has now been 174 days since the Sixers signed Ben Simmons, the No. 1 overall draft pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Simmons got some playing time over the summer on the Sixers summer league team, but has yet to put on the uniform for an official game due to fracture in his right foot he sustained on the last day of training camp.
