The Philadelphia Eagles have now hired Mike Groh as their new wide receivers coach. Groh spent the 2013-2015 season with the Chicago Bears as a wide receivers coach and the 2016 season as the passing game coordinator and wide receiver coach for the Los Angeles Rams. The Philadelphia Soul held an open try-out to the public on Sunday at the Nova-Care Complex in Philadelphia. More than 150 players came out to the complex to try-out for the AFL championship team. The NBA All-Star Votes came to an end and it turns out that Sixers star Joel Embiid will not be joining the starting squad for the Eastern Conference. Although he will not be a starter, that does not mean the end of the line for Embiid, the reserve players for the All-Star game will be announced next Thursday. The Sixers pulled it together again Wednesday night and sealed a 94-89 win over the Raptors. The Sixers of course had help from new rising star and fan favorite Joel Embiid who put up 26 points in the game. Embiid, who has been fighting the flu the past couple of weeks, put up 20 points in only 30 minutes, doing this for the 10th game straight. Phillies Sign Michael Saunders; Penn State Hockey No. 1; Villanova 47th Straight Win At Home

The Phillies have now announced they have signed All-Star outfielder Michael Saunders to a one-year $9 million contract. The contract also features a club option worth $11 million, which could also increase to $14 million. Philly officials stated that Saunders is expected to take his physical with the Phillies in the next day or two. Saunders hit an impressive 24 home runs last season for the Blue Jays, as well as hitting a .298 average, when he won the All-Star Spot.

The Phillies have now announced they have agreed on a one-year renewal contract for shortstop Freddy Galvis this past Friday and avoided arbitration. The one-year deal is supposedly worth $4.35 million. Galvis debuted back for the Phillies in April of 2012. In the 2016 season Galvis hit a .241 with 26 doubles, 3 triples, 20 home runs and 67 RBIs. The Philadelphia Union has signed left-back Giliano Wijnaldum for their 2017 season. Wijnaldum has been playing in the second tier soccer club Bochum in Germany. The Sixers were able to seal a 93-91 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday night after Robert Covington made a fall away shot off of an inbound pass with only 0.2 seconds on the clock. The Sixers needed the miracle shot by Covington after they blew a 24-point lead over the Timberwolves and were looking at heading into overtime.
