On Wednesday, 3/27, Temple University is holding its first of two MMR Vaccination Clinics due to the recent number of mumps cases on campus. Hundreds of students already have lined up to get the free vaccine. Temple officials say they prepared to give out 1,800 shots just today. Students, faculty and staff will be able to receive the Mumps-Measles-Rubella (MMR) vaccine free of charge. A family in Pottstown, Montgomery County, was targeted over the weekend as shots were fired at their home on Sunday night, 3/24. It happened just after dinner at around 8:30 p.m. on the 500 block of West Street. Around 15 shots were fired into the home. No one was injured. The Philadelphia Department of Public Health has closed down three dental practices for improper reprocessing and sterilization of dental equipment, as well as lapses in injection safety practices. The three Trieu Family Dental Clinics located on 437 West Chew Avenue, 5427 North 5th Street, and 6536 Woodland Avenue were closed on December 7th, 2018 following an anonymous tip. The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) has ordered an emergency removal of all children currently remaining at the Glen Mills School in Delaware County following allegations of abuse and cover-ups spanning decades. All children remaining at the reform school, located about 25 west of Philadlephia, "will be removed and relocated as soon as this can be safely accomplished." A North Philadelphia man is under arrest after he allegedly broke into a South Jersey home and held a teenage babysitter at gunpoint while burglarizing the home. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner announced new internal policies on Thursday, 3/21, that are meant to drastically reduce the number of people under parole or probation. Krasner wants to end what he calls 'mass supervision.' Philadelphia has 42,000 people under some form of probation or parole as of 2017. That's 1 in 22 adults. New York City has 12,700.
