This afternoon at City Hall, Councilman David Oh, the Chair of Council's Committee on Global Opportunities and the Creative/Innovative Economy, introduced the initial 15 members of the city's brand new Music Industry Task Force. Councilman Oh, whose office runs the annual PHL Live competition, introduced the bill that led to the creation of the task force. (see below for the City Council bills.)

Officials from the PA Turnpike Commission and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority announced that the Delaware River Turnpike Bridge will reopen tonight sometime after 10:30 pm. The repair work that has kept the bridge closed since the end of January has been completed about a month earlier than expected. Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a murder occurred in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. The murder happened on the 300 block of W. Westmoreland Street at around 6:50 pm on Wednesday. Police arrived on the scene to find a man shot four times in the back of the head. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Police are still searching for the suspect or suspects responsible, and are searching for a possible motive.

Philadelphia Police are searching for three people they believe were involved in the theft of an oxygen tank after breaking into a home in the Queen Village neighborhood last month. It happened around 7 p.m. on February 25 in the 900 block of Washington Avenue. Surveillance video captured the two men and a woman forcing their way into the residence. A suicidal mother and her 2-year-old child are injured after jumping out of a 2-stroy window in North Philadelphia this morning. It happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 2000 block of Diamond St. The 2-year-old was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and is in critical condition. Officials at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey have now come up with a plan to help fix the campus' problem with lead-tainted water in many of the dormitories. The University had the water tested on campus and lead-tainted water was found in nine older residence halls. A fire at a PECO substation in North Philadelphia is causing power outages for thousands and traffic gridlock in the area. It started around 2 p.m. on the 2600 block of West Westmoreland Street. Over 32,000 customers have lost power and many traffic lights are out causing problems on the streets. Heavy smoke could be seen rising from the station. Philadelphia Police are searching for a missing 5-year-old boy from Kensington and his 60-year-old step-grandfather. Naair Thomas was reported missing on Monday night after he failed to come home with his grandfather Stewart Gertman. Thomas lives with Gertman.
