The Philadelphia Zoning Board approved billboards on 11 Parking Authority garages and lots in a vote on Wednesday afternoon. The PPA says the 6x12 foot signs will replace similar smaller signs that were previously at the locations. Revenue will help defray the cost of upkeep of the neighborhood parking lots. One person is dead and two officers have been injured after a man opened fire this morning in Trenton when U.S. Marshals attempted to serve a warrant. That man is now barricaded inside his home in a standoff with authorities. It started at 6:20 a.m. on the 300 block of Centre Street. Former Philadelphia Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz returned to Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday night, now a member of the Seattle Mariners. Ruiz played parts of 11 seasons in Philadelphia, including the 2008 World Series Championship. He was signed at age 16 out of Panama and spent 18 years in the organization. Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams has been indicted on additional fraud charges. NJ Acting U.S. Attorney William Fitzpatrick said on Tuesday that the new charges come from Williams' alleged use of political action committee (PAC) funds and official government vehicles for personal benefit. The Philadelphia District Attorney's office announced that they will not pursue charges against the train engineer who was operating Amtrak train 188 when it derailed two years ago. On May 12th, 2015, Amtrak 188 crashed going around a curve at Frankford Junction while traveling twice the speed limit. Eight people died and over 200 were injured. Philadelphia Police are currently investigating after two men went on spree of robberies near Temple in North Philadelphia. The two men robbed the students in the three separate robberies at gunpoint near Temple's campus. The robberies all took place between the late hours of Sunday and the early morning hours of Monday. Bystanders rushed to the aid of a girl trapped under a car after she was struck crossing the street in Southwest Philadelphia on Sunday evening. 9-year-old Mayonna Joseph was crossing the street with her sister 10-year-old Ariana Rivello at 60th and Kingsessing around 6 p.m. Sunday.
