The final round of hearings for Philadelphia's second casino license began Tuesday. Gaming Control Board Spokesman Doug Harbach says it is conceivable the board would elect not to license a second casino in Philadelphia. He also says it could deadlock, since the license is awarded not by a simple majority of the seven-member board: the law requires all four legislative appointees, plus one of the governor's appointees, to agree on who gets the license.

Today, a Philadelphia man admitted that he illegally enrolled his daughter in a suburban Montgomery County school district. Hamlet Garcia had been charged with felony theft of services but plead guilty to a summery offense of the school code as part of a deal. If the case went to trial and he was convicted he could have faced 7 years in prison, now he just has to pay back $11,000 owed for tuition. Charges against Garcia's wife Olesia were dropped. Pete Seeger has died. The 94 year old singer, songwriter, and community activist passed peacefully in his sleep after a six day stay in the hospital. The banjo playing folk legend played with Woody Guthrie in the early days of his long career writing hit songs like "If I Had a Hammer," "Turn, Turn, Turn," and "Where Have All the Flowers Gone."

A Florida based builder of high end movie theaters appears Tuesday at a Philadelphia Historical Commission hardship hearing to make its case for turning an old Art Deco movie palace on Chestnut Street into a high-end multi screen theater. Federal prosecutors have decided not to continue to pursue the remaining racketeering and gambling charges against reputed mob boss Joseph Ligambi. Ligambi was acquitted last week of witness tampering while the jury deadlocked on three other charges in the retrial. He faced a third trial, but the U.S. Attorney filed a motion Monday seeking to dismiss the remaining counts. Philadelphia Police shot a man in North Philadelphia who allegedly fired at officers. About 3 am in the lobby of a public housing project the 31 year old suspect fired on police. Several returned fire hitting the man 4 times. The man was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital where his condition is critical.

Chester High School was scheduled to open two hours late Monday because of issues to the school's heating system. School officials say the cold weather over the weekend affected their older heating system. School officials were working throughout the weekend to address the problem. Robo-calls were made to parents Sunday night alerting them to the two-hour delay.

Bedford Inn Fire Cape May; Kensington Gas Leak; Maryland Mall Shooting; Woman Sentenced Check Theft

An early morning fire on Saturday in Cape May severely damaged a historic bed and breakfast. Firefighters from the Cape May City Fire Department first responded to the Bedford Inn at 805 Stockton Ave at 5:30 a.m. The blaze was brought under control by 7 a.m. The inn was unoccupied at the time. The building was built in 1883. Officials have yet to determine a cause of the fire, but do not consider it suspicious.
