PA Turnpike 50 Car Accident Kills One, Princeton Meningitis B Vaccine To Be Administered

A motorist who got out of his car after a minor crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike was struck and killed, and about 50 cars behind him were involved in a series of fender-benders that closed westbound lanes as a storm brought heavy snow to the region yesterday afternoon. The crash happened at 12:30 pm near the Morgantown Exit. The victim got out of his car and was struck by another vehicle, as dozens of cars behind him were involved in a series of chain-reaction crashes almost 4 miles long.Read More

Four Wounded at Delaware Meek Mill Event, Dow Renovation 20 Million Dollars

There was a shooting over the weekend outside a Meek Mill hosted event in Wilmington Delaware that left four people wounded. Just before 2 am Sunday, gunfire erupted in the parking lot of MoodSwing Nightclub Lounge on the Kirkwood Highway. Multiple gunshots in a crowd of over 600 people hit four victims and several cars. None of the injuries were life threatening.

Temple University announced this afternoon that it was shutting down seven of it's 24 intercollegiate athletic programs. This was the culmination of a seven-month-long analysis of the university's athletic department. They cited costs, inadequate facilities, and Title IX non-compliance as reasons for the cuts. Funeral arrangements have been announced for former South African President, Nelson Mandela. Mandela spent 27 years in prison, convicted of treason by the white minority government. He was released in 1990 and led his country out of Apartheid negotiating a peaceful end to segregation while urging forgiveness for the white government that had kept him in prison. Nelson Mandela, who battled apartheid in South Africa before becoming its first democratic leader, died at his home in South Africa yesterday after several months of ongoing health problems. Eighteen people were busted this morning in a pair of drugs raids in Collingdale, Delaware County. The raid dubbed “Operation My Block” focused on the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue that had become overrun by two rival drug gangs. Neighbor complained of the increasing violence, gun fire, and drug activity on their block. Seventeen were arrested for possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance. Nelson Mandela has passed away at age 95

Nelson Mandela, former South African president, has passed away at the age of 95. Mandela spent 27 years in prison for treason for opposing the apartheid government of the National Party. He was released in 1990 and continued his work as head of the African National Congress, eventually leading to the end of apartheid and his election as the first black president. Joe Frazier Statue Approved, Love Park Restaurants Proposed

Legendary boxer Joe Frazier, who made Philadelphia his home, will be memorialized in a 9 foot statue to be placed in the stadium complex area in South Philly. The Art Commission approved sculptor Stephen Layne's design yesterday. The pose is from one of Frazier's most storied moments, his knockdown of Muhammad Ali with a left hook in the 15th round of the "Fight of the Century" in 1971. Joe Frazier was the first to beat Ali.
