Widener University Student Shot on Campus; Gunman at Large; Students told to stay inside

A student has been shot on the campus of Widener University near the Schwartz Athletic Center in Chester, Delaware County. It happened at around 9 p.m in the vicinity of 18th Street and Melrose Avenue. The student was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center for treatment but their condition is unknown at this time. The gunman is still at large. Widener University is asking students to stay indoors until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Four people were Injured In Accident Involving a Police Cruiser On City Avenue. It happened around 9 p.m. Monday at Lancaster Pike and City Avenue. Two Philadelphia police officers were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. They are expected to be treated and released. Two people inside the other vehicle were taken to Lankenau Hospital. There is no word on their conditions at this time.

Police have arrested and charged a second person in connection with the school shooting that took place Friday at Delaware Valley Charter High School. They say that video footage shows 18-year-old Donte Walker, a 2013 graduate, purchasing the gun from an unidentified male. Walker then entered the school building but did not pass through the metal detectors and the gun went unnoticed. He then handed 17-year-old Raisheem Rochwell the gun inside the gymnasium where two students were shot.... Read More

Classic Rock Group America Rides That Horse Again

The classic rock group America has had a bang up year with two Golden Globe Awards going to a movie and another to a TV series using one of its songs. Both Breaking Bad and American Hustle used the song "A Horse With No Name" to project a mood swing from serenity to uncertainty. Though America has had numerous hits over the years, nothing has come close to "A Horse With No Name" in terms of either public recognition or the use in movies, TV etc.

Train Derailment, Hoboken Mayor Claims Threats by Governor Christie, Polar Vortex in Philadelphia

A CSX freight train derailed this morning on the Schuylkill Arsenal Bridge. Some of the six derailed cars contained crude oil causing concern over spills onto roadways and the river below. Coast Guard reports from a river crew and inspectors at the derail site reported no leaks. The investigation into the cause of the derailment is underway.

A mother and son were both found dead, shot in the head, in their home in the Lawncrest section of Northeast Philadelphia this afternoon. Police were called to the scene at 3:30 pm Sunday on the 300 block of Stevens Street. A 29-year-old woman had found the two victims, a 49-year-old mother and her 22-year-old son. A second suspect in yesterday's gun shooting at Delaware Valley Charter High School is in police custody and is being charged as an adult with aggravated assault and related offenses.
