Perseid Meteor Showers in Philadelphia Sky August 13 2014

Each August as the Earth's annual orbit takes it through the remains of the comet Swift-Tuttle, we are treated to a dramatic show of meteors streaking through the sky called the Perseids. Named because they seem to radiate from the constellation Perseus, this meteor shower will peak tonight August 13th and through the weekend.

Two men were arrested early this morning breaking into the home of murder victim Connie McClain-Murray in Northeast Philadelphia. It happened at 2:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Murray home on the 2800 block of Tolbut Street in the Holme Circle neighborhood. A witness saw the two men trying to pry open a door and called 911. Revel Casino, once hoped to be the savior of Atlantic City, will close in September after just 2 years. The $2.4 billion casino will sit vacant after the summer when 3,100 people lose their jobs. Revel has been unable to find a buyer to pay even pennies on the dollar for the sleek new gambling hall, underscoring the oversaturated market conditions on the east coast.

Oxford Circle Hit and Run, Child Immigrant Students Increase, Lauren Bacall Passes

Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene after striking a teen on a bike in Oxford Circle Tuesday night. The teen was riding his bike when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver then drove away from the scene. The teen was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children with a leg injury. Police say they are are searching for a charcoal-colored Nissan Pathfinder that fled southbound on the Boulevard.

A $25,750 reward is now being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible in a drive-by shooting at a Gloucester County, New Jersey Police station early this morning. The incident happened around 4:05 a.m. on Tuesday at the West Deptford Police Department building in Thorofare, NJ.
