United States Education Secretary, Arne Duncan says there is no excuse in the 21st century for any school system to be in the financial position Philadelphia’s school system is in. Duncan is working closely with Mayor Nutter, Governor Corbett, Superintendent William R. Hite and Teachers Union head, Jerry Jordan to change a system that put Philly’s schools in a $300 million hole.

Philadelphia Police are looking for a man who they say shot and robbed a cab driver last week. Police describe 27-year-old Paul Leavy as armed and dangerous and on the loose. Southwest Detectives Lieutenant John Walker says he shot a Freedom Taxi cab driver at about 10 p.m. last Thursday at Farragut and Walnut Streets in West Philadelphia.

A freshly installed road sign has many people looking twice out in Lancaster County. The new sign is along Rt. 222 between Reading and Ephrata. It is supposed to read “322 Ephrata Exit 2 Miles”. Instead the R and A are reversed in the middle of the name. The newly misspelled town name reads E-P-H-A-R-T-A. Which phonetically sounds a bit like flatulence. Anyway, no one in the sign shop nor the installation contractor noticed the mistake. It will take almost $1200 to replace the sign... Read More

A half-million dollars in jewelry was stolen from a store in the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. Last night at about 8:45 3 robbers executed a smash and grab then took off in a dark colored vehicle. The three men may have had a fourth accomplice as a driver. Atlantic City Police are welcoming any information.

A former Philadelphia Congressman and Preacher loved and respected by many around the world has died. Bill Gray passed from natural causes at the age of 71. Gray was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for 23 years, serving from 1978 to 1991. In that time he became the first African American to achieve chairmanship of the House Budget Committee. A 13-year-old boy is missing and another rescued after going into the Pennypack Creek in Northeast Philadelphia this afternoon. It happened near Winchester and the Roosevelt Boulevard. A group of four boys were playing near the creek, which is running fast due to record rainfall. Two of the boys were able to get out on their own, but an 11-year-old needed to be rescued. His 13-year-old brother never surfaced. Authorities are now treating this as a recovery more than a rescue. Read More
