Volunteers from New York, Philadelphia and the suburbs delivered something for the soles of the homeless on Thursday. Led by New York-based "It's from the Sole" as in the sole of a shoe, founder Andre McDonnell partnered with Whimsicle Popsicle’s Salim Weldon to collect and distribute sneakers for the homeless. Weldon says donations produced quite a bonanza. Students from Pine Forge Academy in Berks County traveled to Love Park in Center City to help sort the sneakers by size and put... Read More

Valley Forge Park is a good place to avoid right now as roads remain closed or restricted due to the sewer main rupture that spilled about 5 million gallons of raw sewage onto roads and into Valley Creek. The main break happened near Routes 252 and 23 in Upper Merion Township. Waste water flowed into the creek for 30 hours. Authorities hope the high water from this winter will help dilute the potential damage to the fish and wildlife population.

It has finally arrived. Spring... Read More

The Pennsylvania Senate has passed a bill designed to give schools more flexibility in making up snow days from this brutal winter, but it's unclear whether it will get action in the state House. The bill, passed unanimously by the Senate, clarifies that schools can meet the minimum requirements for instruction by calculating hours instead of days. The bill would also allow schools to hold classes one Saturday a month to make up lost days. But the spokesman for the House majority leader ... Read More
