2011 saw U.S. album sales post an increase for the first time since 2004 according to the Associated Press. Maybe this is an indicator of how the market will react to CD's that contain more than one good song.

U.S. album sales rose more than 3 percent last year for the first gain since 2004 -- a sign that rising digital sales are finally stemming the decade-long decline of compact discs.

The uptick to 458 million album sales was helped by the hugely popular... Read More

CBS 3 reports court officials in Montgomery County are now seeking an "out of county" district court judge to decide whether former county commissioner James Matthews will be held for trial on perjury charges.

The prosecution and the defense say they are both on the same page when it comes to assigning an "out of county" district justice to preside over the preliminary hearing.

Matthews was arrested last month and charged with lying to a grand jury that was... Read More

Former Philadelphia City Council staffer Christopher Wright, former chief of staff to the recently retired at-large councilman Jack Kelly, had been convicted in 2009 of what's called "honest services fraud," for helping a developer who was giving him a rent-free apartment.

But last year, the US Supreme Court rejected one component of the honest services fraud law as too vague, and now a federal appeals court has, in turn, thrown out Wright's conviction. Now, he's waiting to see... Read More

The Quadrantids meteor shower, which can potentially be the best natural lightshow of the year, will be visible Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. Viewing conditions will be ideal around Philadelphia with clear skies but it will be quite frigid with temperatures only about 20 degrees.

The peak is predicted to be somewhere around 2:30 to 3 a.m., though Quadrantids meteors are "notoriously unpredictable" in terms of intensity. NASA says it will be a "brief, beautiful"... Read More

  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA
started: 01/03/12 9:17 am | updated: 01/03/12 9:17 am
The 2012 Mummers Parade in Philadelphia was another huge success in the long tradition of the New Years Day tradition. The weather was perfect, and aside from a little brawl between some mummers and viewers caught on video, the day could not have been better.

Especially for the Woodland String Band. The band snagged first place for the first time in its 87-year history. Woodland was last to pass the judges but made a lasting impression.

Late in the parade a... Read More
