New Jersey legislators have approved a far-reaching reorganization of the state’s higher education system. But it does not include a plan to, in effect, merge the operations of Rutgers-Camden and Rowan Universities. The two schools will be able to share in health science programs under a joint board when the legislation takes effect in a year after it’s approved by Governor Chris Christie. The compromise was hammered out after legislators were advised that any plan would have to be approved... Read More

The Supreme Court upheld President Obama's health care overhaul with a 5-4 vote today ruling that it was mostly ok. The biggest part of contention was the requirement that all people purchase health care - the individual mandate. Opponents argued this is unconstitutional because the Commerce clause of the Constitution gives Congress power to regulate inter-state commerce, but not to force anyone to participate in it by making them buy something. However, in the majority opinion, Chief Justice... Read More

The Phillies lost in a high scoring bout last night, 11-7. The loss was nothing new, especially in Citizens Bank Park this year, where the Phils have had horrible outings this year, but the way in which the game went possibly gave fans some light at the end of the tunnel. Chase Utley returned to the lineup for the first time since game 5 of the NLDS. If that wasn't good enough, he went 3-5 with a solo home run in his first at bat. To add to the list of Utley's positives, he looked to have a... Read More

  by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA
started: 06/28/12 5:11 am | updated: 06/28/12 5:11 am
Once again Dave Matthews Band delighted the capacity crowd at the Susquehanna Bank Center on Night 2 of their two day run here in "the place in New Jersey closest to Philadelphia" according the Dave himself. This show took a little longer to get going, but Philly has always been one of the band's best fan bases and they seemed comfortable with a slightly different setlist. They introduced a new song "The Riff" playing it for the first time. Dave also took center stage on piano for "Out Of My... Read More

Jerry Sandusky may be able to retain his $59,000 per year state pension for the rest of his life. Sandusky is still collecting monthly pension checks totaling $4,908.17. The state law, which governs when pensions must be forfeited by a convict, does not include any specific references to sex crimes. Instead it pertains mostly to "crimes related to public office": crimes like theft, bribery, forgery and perjury. That means Tim Curley and Gary Schultz, the Penn State administrators charged with...
