MTV Video Music Awards Celebrates Music Videos on Channel for at least One Night

  by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA
started: 08/28/11 7:58 pm | updated: 08/28/11 7:58 pm

The MTV Video Music Awards may seem like a contradiction or at least ingenuine for a channel that doesn't play videos anymore and furthermore doesn't have VJs that can serve as the face of the station at the awards. In this, the channel's 30th year, reality programming is wall to wall, and music is no where to be found. Instead music fans turn elsewhere for the medium MTV heralded for years. They've watched all these nominated videos and they've become hits on websites like youtube. Artists who... Read More

Hurricane Irene Clean Up and Wrap Up

  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA
started: 08/28/11 3:38 pm | updated: 08/28/11 3:38 pm

Now that Hurricane Irene has left the Philadelphia region, the Monday morning quarterbacks can assess the handling of preparations by our politicians and the media. The storm was not as windy or rainy as predicted, so damages were not as bad as feared. Do you think New Jersey Governor Christie, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg acted properly with evacuation orders? Or did they over-react? How about the news media? Too much Irene hype or was the... Read More
