Raghunandan Yandamuri, 26, of Upper Merion, Montgomery County was ordered to be held for trial at a preliminary hearing today. On October 22, he allegedly murdered 61 year old Satayrathi Venna as she fought back Yandamuri's attempt to kidnap her 10 month old granddaughter, Saanvi Venna. He placed a handkerchief in Saavni's mouth and blanket over her head then carried her off in a suitcase. Philadelphia Streets Department crews will be out, starting tomorrow, rounding up abandoned bicycles that are in disrepair and have been left locked to poles for more than a month. One reason to round up abandoned bikes is that they’re taking parking spaces away from regular riders. The city is donating the bicycles to charity, including the group “Neighborhood Bike Works,” which teaches kids about bike repair.

Roller Coaster Will Be Removed, Philadelphia Winter Weather Update, Obama Visit to Montgomery County

The roller coaster sitting in the ocean thanks to Hurricane Sandy will not stay there. Seaside Heights Mayor Bill Akers said last week that the submerged coaster could make a great tourist attraction. Yesterday he admitted that “was not the brightest comment” and the roller coaster remains would be removed. A new boardwalk is expected to be built by Memorial Day.

PennDOT brined expressways and salted roads well in advance of today's storm. The Philadelphia Streets Department said it was concentrating on primary roads, bridges and areas of high elevation where slippery spots develop. A Delaware County woman has been missing for a week and law enforcement officials are now combing the woods looking for clues. 38 year old Debra Miller of Essington left her home for the grocery store last Sunday and has not been seen or heard from since.
