Former Philadelphia Eagle and Villanova Wildcat running back Brian Westbrook is about to start a career in radio broadcasting. According to 97.5, The Fanatic, the former running back will be heavily involved with the station's coverage of the NFL Draft, training camp and throughout the football season starting in September.

Pat Burrell, 35, is putting down the bat after a 12 year career. He was drafted No. 1 overall by the Phillies in 1998 out of the University of Miami as a third baseman, but spent the majority of his career as a left fielder. He was most notably known for his prowess at the plate. Pat the Bat finished his career just shy of 300 HR's at 292.

Eagles Hire Todd Bowles to Coach Eagles Defensive Backs

The Philadelphia Eagles are bringing in former Miami Dolphins interim head coach, Todd Bowles to be the Birds defensive backs coach. Juan Castillo will remain defensive coordinator.

Bowles will be in charge of the entire secondary. Safeties coach Mike Zordich will report to under Bowles. Bowles will fill the vacancy left by Johnnie Lynn after he Eagles fired him.

Two months after "Occupy Philadelphia" protesters were evicted from Dilworth Plaza, city officials gathered for the long-awaited groundbreaking of the plaza's renovation.

The ceremonial groundbreaking was held indoors, in an office building that overlooks Dilworth Plaza, with US transportation secretary Ray LaHood delivering a key component: a $15-million stimulus grant…almost one third of the total $50-million price tag.

The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News may once again be headed for new ownership.

The New York Post reported over the weekend that the owner, Philadelphia Media Network, is already meeting with potential buyers.

The report claims Philadelphia Media Network is hoping to get roughly $100-million for the papers and news website Philly.com.

The judge in an alleged clergy abuse case has again rejected a defense motion to prohibit the testimony of retired Philadelphia cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua on competency grounds, even though the defense contends that Bevilacqua can’t accurately remember many of his own actions during the last two decades.

Pep Boys to be Sold for $1 Billion

Manny, Moe and Jack are getting new bosses. Pep Boys has agreed to be purchased by private investor, the Gores Group.

The Philadelphia-based auto parts and service retailer said the deal is for $15 per share, a 24 percent premium over Friday's closing price. The enterprise value of the deal is $1 billion, Pep Boys said.

Pottstown School Says No to Uggs

Pottstown Middle School is banning it's students from wearing open top boots - including and especially Uggs. Uggs are a fashion craze with middle school age girls and the ban has created uproar among parents and students. The school says it is having a problem with students storing their cell phones inside their footwear.

One has to wonder, if the students start bringing cell phones to school in their pockets, will there be a ban on pants?
