The Phillies offense has suddenly perked up and is producing more hits and runs. According to Charlie Manuel, "this is hitting season" the summer months when he expects bats to come alive. The recent addition of Hunter Pence to the 5 spot in the batting order behind Ryan Howard seems to be forcing pitchers to throw Howard more fastballs. Prosecuters Push for Video Testimony from Cardinal Bevilaqua |

Prosecutors in the criminal sex abuse case against Msgr. William Lynn claim that Cardinal Anthony Bevilaqua is a material witness and have asked a judge to order videotape testimony from Bevilaqua in case he is unavailable at the time of the trial. Cardinal Bevilaqua is now 88 yearsd old. His lawyers object saying he suffers from cancer and dementia and is not well enough to testify or be cross-examined. Forbes magazine has released it's annual rankings of colleges and universities. The rankings are based on five categories which include postgraduate success (30%), which evaluates alumni pay and prominence; student satisfaction (27.5%), which includes professor evaluations and freshman-to-sophomore retention rates; debt (17.5%), which penalizes schools for high student debt loads and default rates; four-year graduation rates (17.5%); and competitive awards (7.5%), which rewards schools whose... The bipartisan deal to increase the federal government's borrowing limits is now awaiting final approval in the Senate. Three out of our four senators from Pennsylvania and New Jersey are giving it the thumbs down.

The Philadelphia Orchestra and its $140 million endowment in jeopardy? Possibly due to legal filings by two separate parties.
Pianist and conductor Peter Nero, founding music director of the Philly Pops, filed a request for a financial examination of details of the relationship between the Annenberg Foundation and the Philadelphia Orchestra Association.
